At the heart of this movement stood our Shaheed Sharif Osman Hadi, who became its most prominent face. As the spokesperson—and later the convener—of Inquilab Mancha, he set a powerful example of fearless leadership.
In the context of Bangladesh’s recent civic and political movements, Inquilab Mancha has emerged as an important and widely discussed platform. The organization declared its commitment to remain active in the public sphere by upholding the politics of justice, fairness, democracy, and accountability. From its inception, Inquilab Mancha has consistently reaffirmed its pledge to transparency and accountability, advocating for the protection of citizens’ interests beyond the boundaries of partisan politics.

At the core of Inquilab Mancha’s ideological foundation was insaf—justice. Guided by this sense of justice, the platform took a firm stand in favor of the oppressed, deprived, and persecuted. An uncompromising attitude against injustice and discrimination became the principal driving force of its movement.
Following the July mass uprising, Inquilab Mancha took on an organized form. The platform carried out continuous programs demanding state recognition for the martyrs and the injured, the implementation of the July Declaration, and the preservation of the memories of the anti-autocratic struggle. Through rallies and civic programs at Shahbagh and other locations, the organization drew widespread public attention.
Shaheed Sharif Osman Hadi emerged as the central figure of this movement. As the spokesperson and later the convener of Inquilab Mancha, he exemplified fearless leadership. Ignoring intimidation and political pressure, he spoke the truth and remained uncompromising on issues concerning the rights of the people.
Shaheed Hadi’s politics were firmly centered on public interest. Personal gain or the lure of power never guided him; rather, human dignity and the sovereignty of the state formed the core of his political philosophy. His moral strength and ideological integrity made him a distinctive figure in contemporary politics.
By losing his life after being shot, Shaheed Sharif Osman Hadi set a rare example of self-sacrifice. Even in the face of mortal danger, he remained steadfast in his conviction—“I will give my life, but I will not give up July.” This resolve and courage transformed him into a symbol of heroism.
His rise as a potential independent candidate from the Dhaka-8 constituency signaled new possibilities in politics. However, on 12 December, while riding in a rickshaw in the Box Culvert area of Purana Paltan, he was shot—turning that promise into a blood-stained chapter.
His death while undergoing treatment in Singapore triggered nationwide mourning and protest. From ordinary citizens to political circles, deep grief and outrage were expressed across social media. To many, he is remembered as a martyr and an “immortal soldier.”
Emerging from Nalchity in Jhalokathi, this young leader studied Political Science at the University of Dhaka and later pursued a career in teaching. Despite a modest lifestyle, he established a strong presence in national politics, becoming a source of inspiration for the youth.
Overall, the struggle of Inquilab Mancha and Shaheed Sharif Osman Hadi constitutes a significant chapter in Bangladesh’s political history. His life, leadership, and sacrifice will remain a lasting educational example of justice, courage, and democratic struggle for future generations.
The spokesperson of Inquilab Mancha and one of the most prominent leaders of the July mass uprising, Sharif Osman Hadi, could not return to his motherland alive. After seven days of fighting for his life and receiving intensive treatment in hospitals at home and abroad, he breathed his last.
